With generous funding from CS Fund, Labata Fantalle Organization (LaFO), through its Emergency Relief Project, has supported 120 vulnerable agro-pastoralist households with climate-smart crop seeds, including early-maturing maize and sorghum varieties that require less moisture. These varieties are well suited to the dryland agro-ecology of Fantalle District and have demonstrated local adaptability. This intervention directly addresses the challenges posed by recurrent drought and increasingly unpredictable rainfall patterns in Fantalle. By providing resilient seed varieties, LaFO is helping vulnerable families strengthen food security, reduce the risk of crop failure, and build their adaptive capacity to climate variability and change. The initiative prioritizes resource-constrained households, helping ensure that the benefits of improved and climate-smart agricultural practices reach those most in need.
