LaFO Holds Project Startup Workshop for Drought-Affected Communities in Fantalle
Labata Fantalle Organization (LaFO) conducted a project startup workshop for the Building Resilience for Fantalle Drought-Affected Communities Project on October 21, 2026, in Adama, Ethiopia. The workshop was attended by representatives from the Oromia National Regional State, Central Oromia Zone, Fantalle Woreda, and LaFO. The session featured opening remarks by government representatives, a presentation on the project by LaFO representatives, a question-and-answer session, discussions, and closing remarks. Participants gained a shared understanding of the project’s objectives, planned activities, and implementation strategies, while providing valuable recommendations to support effective implementation. The two-year project, which will run until August 2028, aims to improve access to safe drinking water, provide livestock health services, deliver health and nutrition interventions focusing on children and pregnant and lactating women, and support the livelihoods of households affected by El Niño-induced drought. The project is expected to impact 5,647 people directly, including 2,957 females, and 24,468 people indirectly. One government representative commended the project’s sectoral focus and geographical targeting, stating: “The selected intervention sectors are appropriate for Fantalle Woreda, which is naturally arid and drought-prone. The selection of kebeles which are most vulnerable and hard to reach areas covering both remote and accessible areas based on the assessment findings, is also commendable.” LaFO is grateful to CS Fund for its partnership and commitment to supporting pastoralist and agro-pastoralist communities in Ethiopia. #LaFO #CSFund #BuildingResilience #DroughtResponse #ClimateResilience #PastoralistCommunities #AgroPastoralists #WaterSanitationAndHygiene #HealthAndNutrition #Livelihoods
